What is Trauma?

Definition of Trauma.
Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel the full range of emotions and experiences.
Physical Trauma:An injury (such as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent.
Emotional shock following a stressful event or a physical injury, which may lead to long-term neurosis.

Many people often say to me I haven't experienced any trauma I ask them have you been through child birth? Experienced a relationship breakdown, had an operation? Lost your job? Experienced the loss of a loved one?Fallen victim to mental or physical abuse?
These are just some of common traumas we experience in our lives that some people don't see a traumas. These traumas unless resolved stay in our subconscious and can play a toxic part in our daily lives.
