Integral Eye Movement Therapy for trauma recovery

About me

I’m Laura, an Advanced Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) practitioner, Qualified Breath Body and Mind Level 1 Teacher, trained with Dr Patricia Gerbarg and Dr Richard Brown, ADHD Clinical Services Provider, and Clinical Supervisor. I support adults to process difficult emotions and work through the impact of trauma in a way that feels safe, compassionate, and respectful of the nervous system.

I have been qualified as a therapist since 2016 and bring over 28 years of experience working with children and adults who are vulnerable across a wide range of health and social care settings. This includes supporting individuals impacted by complex trauma, sexual exploitation, and county lines.

My work is grounded in both professional training and lived experience. I offer a calm, non-judgemental, and reflective space for clients seeking therapeutic support, and for professionals looking for thoughtful, trauma-informed clinical supervision that supports safe practice, self-reflection, and sustainable working.

Outside of my professional work, I nurture my own wellbeing through breath body and mind practices, spirituality, walks in nature, creative writing, painting, yoga, and a deep interest in holistic health.

These practices keep me grounded, reflective, and aligned supporting not only my personal growth, but the presence and clarity I bring to my work.

My journey

My work is grounded in both professional training and lived experience, giving me a deep and practical understanding of trauma, neurodivergence, and nervous system regulation.

I grew up in Devon and was introduced early on to the realities of mental health, receiving diagnoses of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress in my late teens. Rather than defining my path, these experiences led me to question traditional approaches and explore more integrative, body-based ways of understanding healing.

Over time, I also navigated Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). This period became a turning point in my understanding of the connection between unresolved trauma, chronic stress, and physical health. As I began to work with emotional patterns and the nervous system, I experienced a measurable shift not only in my mental wellbeing, but also in physical symptoms.

This informed a core principle of my work: symptoms are not random or isolated, they are often intelligent responses from a system that has been under prolonged stress.

In 2025, I received a late diagnosis of ADHD and Autism, providing further insight into how neurodivergence shapes perception, regulation, and behaviour. This has strengthened my ability to support clients who may feel misunderstood or overlooked within traditional frameworks.

Today, I integrate this depth of understanding into my practice, combining therapeutic training with lived insight to support meaningful, lasting change.

My work is not about “fixing” individuals, but about helping them understand their system, regulate their responses, and reconnect with a sense of safety and control.

My experience in IEMT

I first experienced Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), through the NHS in the UK, and then became fascinated with my recovery and how quickly the shift from my traumatic memories began processing. Inspired by my experience I then studied Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT).

Holistic mental health support with IEMT

I know from my own life experiences and from supporting others, that living with increased levels of stress and trauma can often produce both mental and physical health issues. These can be hard to address and overcome, and at times seem impossible to deal with, like a block in the way. However, with assistance, support, and guidance a positive outcome is possible, and the blocks can be removed.
